NEW FRANKLIN: Molly Norris’ real wish was to meet singer Taylor Swift. But after the 11-year-old decided that wish was impossible for anyone to grant, she asked representatives from the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana to make her a dream bedroom.Last year, Molly was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Since October, she has found refuge in her bedroom, said her mother, Judy Norris.“While she was going through chemo, she stayed in her bedroom. It was her sanctuary,” Judy Norris said.Molly asked the foundation to provide her with a zebra-themed room, and on Thursday, Make-A-Wish delivered — with the help of partners Broyhill and Levin furniture companies, said Make-A-Wish Foundation representative Lisa White of Sagamore Hills.Volunteers painted Molly’s bedroom walls, hung zebra-striped wallpaper and installed carpeting. Early Thursday morning, volunteers descended on the well-kept colonial home to assemble a bed, dresser and night stand, hang zebra-striped drapes and accessorize the room.Broyhill provided the furniture; Levin delivered it.Although Molly had much of what she wanted last month, Thursday was the first time she got to see all the pieces put together in her new bedroom.“They went a little overboard, but I liked it,” she said after the unveiling.“It was a lot more than I expected.”Designer Brenda Noch said the Levin design team worked with Molly to grant her wish.“Molly gave us the insight to what she wanted, and we just went with it,” Noch said.Broyhill has been partnering with Make-A-Wish Foundations across the country for the past 12 months, granting furniture and room-makeover wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses.Kathy Antoniotti can be reached at 330-996-3565 or kantoniotti@thebeaconjournal.com.
