PITTSBURGH -- A 4-year-old girl was killed Wednesday night after a television fell on her.

Police said the accident happened at a home in Northview Heights. Investigators said the 30-inch TV fell on her while she was playing a video game.

Officers said the TV was sitting on a dresser and fell about three feet before crushing the child.

The girl's mother said she heard a loud noise, rain upstairs and found her daughter under the TV. She told police that she lifted the television off of the girl and dialed 911.

Police officers who were on patrol responded to the home within minutes and found the girl unresponsive, with a faint pulse.

The child was taken to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, where she later died.
